My old apartment in Clinton Hill was in the top floor of an old frame house, not as grand as any of these.  Sadly the owners did a  poor renovation of it, complete with vinyl siding. Completely gutted the top floor and left none of the details, just cheap carpet and a quick run to Home Depot. :(

Ha, one of my friends knows the people who run Boozecats. I was introduced this weekend and, uhh, wow. This was definitely my favorite.

I am grateful for the internet again.

Who are these people who are such good friends with serendipity? These are the same people who meet the loves of their lives “when they’re least expecting it” and they always tell us that that’s how we too can meet our soul mates. “Just stop looking,” they say. “That’s how it happens.” So if I want everything does that mean I have to do nothing?

South Slope's Lucali II to be Called Giuseppina's →

Still haven’t made it to the original but I will definitely check out this one since it is so close to me

I got on the subway on the way home from work and I smelled something oddly familiar.  It took me a few minutes and then I realized what it was.

NUN SOUP!

I went to a small catholic school from k - 8 and at lunch time our only hot lunch if you didn’t bring your own was soup. You could get this soup from a very small elderly nun that stood in the corner of the cafeteria with her soup cart on wheels.  She would ladle your soup into a pink-ish flesh color plastic bowl and get this! It only cost 25 cents! A QUARTER for a whole bowl of soup! Unfortunately the soup wasn’t very good and I had a theory that the nuns just put in whatever they had leftover from the night before.  Thankfully I brought lunch everyday because frankly those fleshy colored plastic bowls kind of freaked me out a bit. I hadn’t smelled that smell in a while but I can only assume that perhaps there was a nun undercover on that train hiding a big pot of that soup.

WANT

I would totally wear this around the apartment, you know nothing out of the ordinary

I have a granny square blanket just like this back at my dads house in NH that my grandmother made years ago.  I’ve always loved the crazy colors even it is a bit excessive.
